About us

My name is Fazila Dawson. I am a qualified Relationship Counsellor who works with both couples and individuals.

Continued professional development is important to me in meeting the needs of clients and in addition to my qualifications, I have had additional training in infertility counselling through the British Infertility Counselling Association (BICA) as well as training in counselling children and young people from Strathclyde University . I am currently working towards completing training in mindfulness practice with young people and outside of this I attend a number of courses throughout the year to keep my practice up-to-date and build my knowledge base.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy, a professional body that ensures Counsellors and Psychotherapists work to ensure ethical practice for our clients.

I provide counselling on the Southside of Glasgow from Southside Counselling and Therapy Centre and also offer online counselling if appropriate.

I use an integrative counselling approach, combining psychodynamic, systemic and attachment-based models. This approach understands relationships and human development in the context of past and present experiences and takes into account the broader context we live in.

Working in a warm, gentle, and balanced way and with the client’s objectives in mind is key in my approach. I utilise varied theoretical lenses, psychoeducational material, reflection, and sometimes creative approaches to help clients find greater clarity on their concerns, build self-awareness, and strengthen or develop new coping mechanisms.
